The People

But not everyone shows strength in daggers

Blunt and unbridled

They budge time and again into skin

And make wounds that are far from fatal

In time their blows are always returned

When you tell people how you feel

It reeks of old haunts

Shallow streams of pain but they weren’t there

They don’t know what you mean

And nobody wants to be a remnant of when they were free

It’s the fragile people that learn to make traps

People who were talked over

They find a way to tell their stories at last

And their claws came out in time for the grand defense.

I want to write about the people that settled before they lost

Because their war is with themselves.

Their war is unending
